Fetchii Is Here
Fetchii, a native macOS app for downloading, converting, and recording online video, with private on-device AI for your library, is now available to everyone. One-time price, 14-day free trial.
Today, Fetchii is open to everyone. Version 1.1 is the first public release: you can download it from this site, try it free for 14 days, and buy a license once it has earned a place on your Mac.
Here's what Fetchii is, why I made it, and what you get.
Why I built it
Saving a video on a Mac shouldn't take a terminal, an ad-covered website, or three different apps. I wanted one native app that does the whole job (get the video, convert it if needed, keep it) and then stays out of the way. And I wanted the files to stay mine: on my disk, playable without an account, never reported back to anyone.
That's still the whole idea. Everything below follows from it.
What Fetchii does
Download from 1,000+ sites. Paste a link, or drop it anywhere on the window. YouTube, Bilibili, Niconico, Twitch and many more, up to 4K 60fps, whole playlists included. A browser extension sends the page you're on straight to Fetchii.
Convert in the same app. Change the format, pull out the audio, or remux a file QuickTime won't play so it works everywhere on your Mac. No second app needed.
Record livestreams as they air. If the connection drops, Fetchii tries to pick the stream back up. If it can't, everything recorded so far is saved and marked "Stopped early", so a recording never just vanishes.
Skip the sponsors. With SponsorBlock built in, sponsor segments are removed while the video downloads. Here's how it works.
Understand your library, privately. Generate subtitles from a video's audio and translate them. Get a summary before you commit to an hour-long lecture. Search everything you've saved by describing what you remember, even in another language, and jump to the moment it was said. All of it runs locally on Apple Silicon, and all of it stays off until you turn it on. The full tour is in Fetchii 1.1: Intelligence, on Your Mac.
What it doesn't do
No account to create. No subscription. No AI credits. Your videos, transcripts, summaries, and searches never leave your Mac.
Pricing
Fetchii is a one-time purchase: Personal is $19.99 for one Mac, Multi-Device is $29.99 for up to three. Every license includes every feature and free 1.x updates, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. You can see which Macs use your license, and free one up, on your account page.
Not sure yet? The 14-day trial includes everything, and needs no card and no account. See the plans.
What you need
macOS Sonoma 14.6 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. The on-device AI features need an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later); on Intel, downloading, converting, and recording all work in full.
Getting here
Getting to this day took 51 Nightly builds (a few of which never made it out of CI), a top-to-bottom redesign of the app, and a new website to match it. To everyone who tried an early build and told me what was broken: thank you. A good share of what's polished in 1.1 started as one of your messages.
What's next
The next few updates are about polish: the small things that only show up once a lot more people use an app every day. If something bothers you, or a site doesn't work the way you expect, tell me.
Welcome to Fetchii.
