Fetchii 1.1: Intelligence, on Your Mac
Fetchii 1.1 adds a private AI layer to your video library — subtitle generation, search by meaning, instant summaries, on-device translation, and smart renaming. All of it runs locally on Apple Silicon, and all of it is included in every license.
Fetchii is built on one idea: your library belongs to you. It lives on your disk, plays without an account, and never reports back to a server. But a library you can't find anything in doesn't really feel like yours either. So Fetchii 1.1 can also understand your videos: transcribe them, summarize them, translate them, and find any moment you half-remember. And true to form, every bit of it happens on your Mac.
The problem with a big library
Anyone who downloads seriously ends up in the same place: hundreds of files with names like lecture_final_1080p_0847.mp4, half of them without subtitles, none of them searchable beyond the filename. You know the explanation you need is in one of those videos. Good luck finding it.
The industry's answer is to upload everything to someone's cloud and let their servers sort it out. That was never going to be Fetchii's answer.
What's in 1.1
Subtitles for any video. If a video has no subtitles, Fetchii generates them from the audio — on-device speech recognition that auto-detects the spoken language, saved as a standard .srt beside the file. A voice-activity pre-filter keeps music and silence from turning into phantom captions.
Search by meaning. Describe what you remember — "the part about attention mechanisms", "budget ramen in Tokyo" — and Fetchii finds the videos and the moments. It's cross-lingual, too: search in English, match inside a Chinese video, and vice versa.
Instant summaries. A clean recap of any video before you commit to watching it. Long lectures and podcasts included — Fetchii summarizes in sections and merges, so hour three is covered as well as minute one.
Private translation. Subtitles translate into fifteen languages right on your Mac — offline, free, and notably strong on Chinese and Japanese. Prefer a specific provider? You can optionally plug in your own DeepL, OpenAI, or Anthropic key, and the text goes straight from your Mac to them — never through us.
Smart renaming. That cryptic filename becomes a clean, human title, drawn from what's actually in the video. Fetchii only ever suggests — nothing is renamed without your click.
On-device or it doesn't ship
All of this runs on open-weight models executing locally on Apple Silicon — the same stack we credit openly on our acknowledgments page. There is no Fetchii AI server. Your videos, transcripts, summaries, and searches never leave the machine. No account, no subscription, no "AI credits" meter. That's not restraint; it's the architecture.
Off by default, on in one click
Every AI feature is optional and starts switched off. Open Settings → Intelligence, flip on what you want, and Fetchii downloads the models it needs — from 216 MB for the small speech model to 4.3 GB for the largest language model, each deletable anytime. Then look for the sparkles button on any completed download: subtitles, summary, translation, and renaming all live there.
The features require an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later). On Intel Macs, everything else in Fetchii — downloading, converting, and recording — works in full.
What it costs
Nothing extra. The AI features are included in every Fetchii license, with no add-on and no higher tier, and every 1.x update is free. The 14-day trial includes everything in this post — no card, no account.
