How to save videos from Safari or Chrome with the browser helper
Updated · For Fetchii 1.1 · 2 min read
Short answer
Install the Fetchii browser helper for Safari, Chrome, Edge or Brave, then right-click any page, link or video and choose Download with Fetchii. Fetchii, which needs to be open, takes it from there; on live pages the menu item becomes Record with Fetchii.
Step by step
1
Open the setup in Fetchii
Open Fetchii → Settings → Browser Extension, or choose Help → Set up browser extension, and pick your browser.
The Safari extension comes with Fetchii. Open Safari Settings, go to Extensions, tick Fetchii, then click the Fetchii icon in Safari's toolbar and choose Always Allow on Every Website.
3
Chrome, Edge or Brave: add it from the Chrome Web Store
Under Add to Chrome from Web Store, click Open Web Store and add the Fetchii Browser Helper. If the Web Store isn't available, Install offline (advanced) loads it from a folder inside the app.
4
Send a video
Right-click the page, a link or a video and choose Download with Fetchii, or click the toolbar icon and choose Send this page to Fetchii. The helper shows Sent to Fetchii! when it's on its way.

Please note:The helper sends what you choose; only save videos you have the right to keep.
More you can do
Record livestreams from the browser
On live pages such as Twitch, YouTube Live, Bilibili Live or Kick, the menu item reads Record with Fetchii. See how to record a Twitch stream.
Send a playlist page and Fetchii asks you to choose the videos in the app.
A different action for browser downloads
Use separate settings for browser downloads in Settings → Browser Extension lets downloads from the helper do something different when they finish, such as showing the file in Finder.
Questions
Which browsers are supported?
Safari, Chrome, Edge, Brave and Chromium. A Firefox extension is in development; until then, Fetchii can use your Firefox sign-in for pasted links (Settings → Advanced → Signed-In Sites).
What does “Fetchii isn't open” mean?
The helper hands videos to the Fetchii app on your Mac. Open Fetchii and try again.
What permissions does the helper ask for, and why?
Access to the sites you visit, cookies, the right-click menu and a connection to the Fetchii app. It needs these to send the page and your sign-in for that site to Fetchii. See the extension privacy policy.
Does the helper cost extra?
No. It comes with Fetchii, and it needs the Fetchii app to work.
