How to skip YouTube sponsor segments when downloading
Updated · For Fetchii 1.1 · 1 min read
Short answer
In Fetchii, turn on Enable SponsorBlock in Settings → Downloads, tick the segment types you want gone, such as Sponsor, and keep the action on Remove segments. New YouTube downloads are then saved with those parts cut out, using the community-maintained SponsorBlock database.
Step by step
1
Turn on SponsorBlock
Open Fetchii → Settings → Downloads and, under SponsorBlock, turn on Enable SponsorBlock.

2
Choose what to skip
Tick the Categories you want handled: Sponsor, Self-promotion, Interaction reminder, Intro, Outro, Preview/Recap, Non-music and Filler. Nothing is ticked at first; until you tick one, SponsorBlock has no effect.
3
Choose remove or mark
Set Action to Remove segments to cut them out of the file, or Mark as chapters to keep everything and add chapter markers you can skip in your player.
4
Download as usual
Paste a YouTube link and press Enter. The setting applies to new downloads only.
Please note:Removing segments changes your personal copy only; download videos you have the right to keep.
More you can do
Keep chapters in the file
Embed chapters in Settings → Downloads → Metadata is on by default, so marked segments show up as chapters in players that support them.
No. SponsorBlock covers YouTube videos, and it's skipped for livestream recordings.
Why was a sponsor read not removed?
Segments come from SponsorBlock's community, so a new or less-watched video may not have any marked yet. Also check that the category is ticked.
What is SponsorBlock?
A community-maintained database of segments in YouTube videos, such as sponsor reads and intros. Fetchii looks up each video there when it downloads it.
